What Is The Best Remake Of An ’80s Movie?
I never thought about this question prior to today. It’s one that has stuck with me for hours. The 1980s might be thought of as cheesy by today’s generation, but they don’t understand the purity of the movies at that time. The ’80s were a time of excess and good moods. It could be heard in the music and seen in the movies. That being the case, choosing the best remake of an 80s movie is not only difficult, but close to impossible. Let’s take a quick look.This/tag helps explain it more.
The three ’80s remakes that stand out the most – not all for good reasons – are Tron: Legacy, The Karate Kid and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. We’ll begin with the latter and work our way back.
Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is tedious and overdone. Other than Michael Douglas, the acting was poor. Even he didn’t have his best performance. The only thing this movie accomplished was to taint the original. The Karate Kid was somewhat interesting, but so different from the original that you can’t really compare the two. The original was better. As far as Tron: Legacy goes, movie fans might want to hold on to the nostalgia of the original, but I watched them back to back and the remake is clearly a much better movie. A lot of this has to do with the technology, but a fact is a fact.
